First let me start off by saying that yes i know this is not where this goes but i want the majority of ppl to see this so i posted here...feel free to move it whenever

Ok i use vista on my laptop and have had npc text problems for quite some time and after going thru all the crap that ppl have told me to try i finally came up with my own solution and have narrowed it down to 1 or 2 files depending on which method you launch the game with...

Me personally i use genpatch/RRE to run rose and the 2 files that i modify are genpatch and trose so here are the steps i take...

Method for users not using genpatch

1. go to your rose online folder (usually located at c:\program files\gravity (may also be triggersoft instead of gravity)\rose online evolution)
2. find trose and right click and go to properties and click on the compatibility tab
3. under compatibility mode make sure "run this program in compatibility mode for:" is checked and make sure it says Windows XP (service pack 2)
4. under the same tab for trose make sure "run this program as administrator" make sure nothing else is checked and click apply

If that does not work then uncheck "run this program in compatibility mode" and try again.

Method for users who do use genptach

1. go to your rose online folder (usually located at c:\program files\gravity (may also be triggersoft instead of gravity)\rose online evolution)
2. find trose and right click and go to properties and click on the compatibility tab
3. under compatibility mode make sure "run this program in compatibility mode for:" is checked and make sure it says Windows XP (service pack 2)
4. under the same tab for trose make sure "run this program as administrator" make sure nothing else is checked and click apply

Now also in your roseonline folder you will see the file "genpatch"

Follow steps 1-4 for the genpatch file also and make sure that your compatibility tab for both files match meaning they have the same items checked.

Now if you start the game and have said items checked in both genpatch and trose properties and you still do not have npc text then go to trose and genptach properties and uncheck "run this program in compatibility mode" for both files and restart rose.

And yes every time you check or uncheck something you have to restart rose for the "fix" to apply.

I'm not guaranteeing this is a fix for everyones npc text problems but these are the steps i go thru for almost every patch and it always works for me.
